Definition: A teleseminar is a seminar that
is given over the telephone. Many people refer to teleseminars as conference calls. Participants join a shared telephone line by calling a 1-800 number and using a password to join the call. The moderator of the call (you) would lead the conference and deliver your message to all conference participants. You can leave the lines open for people to converse or you can have the entire call muted so that these participants can only hear the moderator of the call.
There are two ways to make money from teleseminars:
The first way is you can charge a fee for your partipants to join your conference call. Themes that work well in this scenario include any type of "How to" type of presentation. For example, if you're an accountant you could have a seminar on The Benefits of Incorporating to Reduce Taxes. Another example, if you're a financial advisor, you could speak about Six Ways To Bullet Proof Your Exisitng Investment Portfolio.
The second way to make money from teleseminars is to charge no fee for participants to join your conference call. The purpose of this call is to inform your participants about your product or service. The goal of this call is to get them to do business with you soon after the conference ends. For example, an author of an email marketing software program offers a Free Teleseminar about the benefits of email marketing to promote your business. At the end of their call they offer a special promotion for their software program. They might say something like, "Everyone on this call is entitled to a discount of $50 if your order online today right after this call!"
Teleseminars are used as a marketing vehicle to promote your product or service and can be promoted by word of mouth, online or even offline!
Many moderators of teleseminars use power point presentations, word documents or excel spreadsheets in conjunction with their conference calls.
Conference providers may allow you to record the teleseminar to resell to participants who may have missed the conference call.
The best way to conduct teleseminars is to mute the call so that all participants cannot hear each other. If you're taking questions from participants then you need to have people email their questions in prior to the call to effectively manage the flow and delivery of your message.
